The End is Near for Windows Server 2003 Support

As of July 14, 2015, Microsoft will no longer issue security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003. If you are still running Windows Server 2003 in your datacenter, you need to take steps now to plan and execute a migration strategy to protect your infrastructure. Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016 Licensing Update

With the upcoming launch of Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016, for servers the licensing of Datacenter and Standard Edition will move from processor licensing to physical core licensing.  For client computers, per user or per device based Windows Server CALs and System Center CMLs will continue to be a requirement.

Lumension AntiVirus Transition

If your department is running Lumension, please note this announcement.

L.E.M.S.S. v8.2 was released in early Mar-2015, and includes a change to the integrated AV engine. With this change, Lumension® AntiVirus provides improved malware detection, reduced bandwidth utilization, and improved endpoint performance. While this change has minimal to no impact on end users, it requires you to update both the L.E.M.S.S. server and L.E.M.S.S. endpoint agents to the latest version to continue receiving AV protection.

Important OS X Security Updates Released 9-1-16

The UCLA Information Security Office is providing a reminder that on September 1, 2016, Apple released a set of security updates for Safari and OS X designed to patch vulnerabilities that allow attackers to perform memory disclosure and code execution on vulnerable OS X hosts. The following operating system versions are affected by these vulnerabilities, and the recommended action for each is included:

All Modules for SPSS Now Available to...ALL!

UCLA has joined the IBM ESSO Agreement for SPSS Statistics licenses effective 1/1/16.  This means that the full compliment of SPSS modules is now available to all SPSS license holders.  Additionally there are no longer any administrative or hospital use restrictions  - licenses are now available for all UCLA uses - administrative, hospital, students.  Students using their personal funds will find SPSS available at the ASUCLA Computer Store in Ackerman Union.  Staff and Faculty; to purchase
