Mathematica is a program of a comprehensive set of mathematical, scientific, engineering, and financial functions. Software Central provides annual departmental Mathematica licenses at a significant discount.  Technical support is available via Software Central.

The agreement also provides licensees with a complementary home use license with a purchase of an office use license.  Home use must be arranged separately directly from the Wolfram home use website.

***PLEASE NOTE*** Mathematica v10’s new cloud storage function provides no contractual or infrastructural safeguards regarding data security and integrity. Therefore:

Use of the Mathematica cloud to store or process any sensitive data is PROHIBITED. Sensitive data, includes but is not limited to:

  • individuals’ health information
  • social security numbers
  • CADL or CAID numbers
  • data relating to human subjects or animal research
  • export controlled data.

Use of the Mathematica cloud to store or process non-sensitive data is at your own risk. For example, if your only copy of a document stored on the Mathematica cloud were subsequently destroyed or corrupted due to Mathematica’s action or inaction, Mathematica is not required or able to correct this.

UCLA faculty and staff use of the Mathematica cloud must comply with any other applicable University policies, notably policies relating to the protection of University data and the UC Electronic Communications Policy.

Ordering Information: 

Annual licenses for faculty and staff are available from the Software Central Store.

Students can procure licenses through the ASUCLA Computer Store in Ackerman Union on campus.

UCLA affiliated persons wishing to purchase a perpetual license can purchase through the University of California Volume-Purchase Program. This program allows UC faculty, staff, and students to purchase the professional version [perpetual license] of Mathematica and several other Wolfram Research products and services (excluding the product known as Mathematica for Students) at a substantial discount off the standard list price. These orders are taken at the Wolfram's 'Mathematica Store' Website.
