UCLA System Administrators can configure their machines to locate UCLA's campus-wide KMS service using either of the following two methods. The machines to be activated are required to use a UCLA IP address.

How to configure the necessary SRV entries in Microsoft Windows DNS server for automatic KMS discovery
Open up the DNS Control Panel in the "Administrative Tools".
Select Start-Administrative Tools-DNS from the Windows Desktop
Browse to the Forward Lookup Zone for your domain, and then click on the "_tcp" node. In the right pane, right click the mouse and choose "Other New Records…" from the menu.
In the DNS Control Panel, select the _tcp node for the Forward Lookup Zone for your domain.
A useful tool for performing and managing your activations is the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT). VAMT is able to store the activation data to reapply to machines again later, to avoid consuming activations against your key when reimaging.
Managing Activation Using the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT)
Microsoft has rolled-out a new type of product activation called Volume Activation (VA) for products such as Office , Windows and Windows Server.
PLEASE NOTE: These mechanisms are not yet required to use other Microsoft products, but Microsoft has stated that it is their plan to require this for other products in the future.
lynda.com provides provides an online library of over 5000 training courses on a wide range of technology topics such as commonly used office productivity tools, operating systems, design tools, audio and video editing applications, web development, open source software and many more.
Access to Lynda.com content is currently available via the L.A. Public Library and the L.A. County Library Systems for free to anyone with a library card. A new login ID would need to be created with the library for signing on through their system:

KST sells desktop computers, portable computers, printers, and peripherals from such manufacturers as Dell, HP, Microsoft, IBM/Lenovo and many others. Departments and UCLA affiliated persons (for personal purchases) are eligible to purchase on the KST agreement. Working with UCLA departments, KST creates commonly configured machines called 'Sweet Spots' that are available at significant savings.

The Microsoft Campus Consolidated Agreement (MCCA) allows departments to license Microsoft products on an annual basis, meaning continued use of the products acquired through MCCA requires annual payments. MCCA Faculty and Staff Licenses and some MCCA Online products are licensed based upon the numbers of faculty and staff (Knowledge Workers) in a department rather than the number of computers the department possess.
